The Lick Creek Church of the Brethren is founded upon the faith that there is but one God, who has most fully revealed Himself through Jesus Christ.  In holy love He creates, sustains, and orders all.  We believe that Jesus is Lord of the Church, the nations, and all of life.  We believe that the Holy Spirit is at work in the hearts and minds of believers, creating and sustaining the Church through the gospel (the proclamation of the good news of Christ's reign), giving guidance and comfort, and uniting believers with God and with one another.

We maintain that the Holy Scriptures are the only creed and rule of faith.  In the Bible is recorded God's search for all persons, which is climaxed in God's redemptive act of salvation in and through Jesus Christ.  Through the preaching and teaching of the Bible, God continues to speak and accomplish His redemptive purposes.

We believe that the Church is the corporate, mystical body of Christ and it is under His mandate to be faithful in accepting and transmitting the good news of Christ by word and deed.  Members of the Church are together responsible for the total ministry of the Church.  We believe that, according to the Scriptures, life in Christ means life in the body of Christ. "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body," (1 Cor. 12:13) so that we, "though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another" (Rom. 12:5).

Membership in a local fellowship of believers, the congregation, is the way in which we affirm and live out our membership in Christ's larger body, the Church universal.  In our interrelatedness with other Christians in the local church, we experience the fullness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we discover ways to be faithful to our covenant with God and each other, and we are able to support one another in carrying out our common calling as the people of God. So it was in the house churches of the earliest Christians; and so it is in the life of God's people today.

The mission of the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren is to provide spiritual direction, unity and purpose to all people by continuing the work of Jesus Christ--peacefully, simply, and together.  Our vision for ministry includes:

    1) Providing Christian education through Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and special interest events for all ages;
    2) Conducting worship services that faithfully communicates the Word of God in relevant ways for people today;
    3) Providing opportunities for fellowship to strengthen the Christian spirit;
    4) Supporting the community, both near and far, by serving as witnesses in proclaiming and fulfilling the Gospel;
    5) Supporting the Church of the Brethren through district, national, and international activities; and
    6) Encouraging members and friends of the Church to be faithful in accepting and spreading the Gospel by word and deed.
