About Us

Life Today: Lick Creek is a place for all persons to meet and experience the love of Jesus. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome to join us as we walk together. We believe in Jesus and his teachings, and use them to model our approach to doing life together. We are doing the work of Jesus peacefully, simply, and together.

Our Ministries

We offer an adult Sunday school class year round starting at 9:30 am.  We also have children’s Sunday school from September to May.

We have two fund raisers each year.  One being our Ice Cream Social on the third Thursday in July.  The proceeds of the Ice Cream Social are used with Heifer Project, Little Rock, Arkansas; The Sanctuary Homeless Shelter, Bryan, Ohio; Compassion Medical Clinic, Bryan, Ohio; and Habitat for Humanity of Williams County.

The Second fund raiser is the Apple Dumpling making which is used in our general fund.

Our Story

Lick Creek was founded by several Brethren families who settled along Lick Creek, Bryan, Ohio around 1833, and began to organize religious services first meeting in their cabins.  In 1853, the Church of the Brethren was the first recognized church organization in Williams County.  In 1868, the congregation purchased a one acre plot of ground where the church is now located.

The Civil War delayed immediate construction of the church building.  In 1870, a meeting house was built on the one acre plot. In 1938, the church parsonage was built from lumber acquired from the old Portage Church near Bowling Green, Ohio.  As increased attendance occurred, plans were made for an entirely new church which started in 1957, with the addition of the educational classrooms, offices, parlor, and infant room.  In 1968, a new sanctuary and fellowship hall were added to complete the current church building.

Worship

Lick Creek’s services is more traditional with mainly hymns being sung.  It does use multimedia throughout the worship service to bring in current songs and teaching tracts to enhance our time together.    Sundays consist of hymns, scripture reading, children’s lessons and scripture based sermons given by our pastor.
